Serrapeptase is a potent proteolytic enzyme originally created by the Japanese silkworm, to break down the walls of its cocoon. Utilized in Japan for myriad therapeutic uses for decades, increasingly more studies are finding its health benefits, and its popularity is spreading to the US. The compound is now conventionally manufactured, cultivated from a gram-negative strain of bacteria.
